About Katie Schwarz
Originally from Oakland, CA and living there currently, Katie Schwarz received her BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley, her LL.M in International Law from the University of Glasgow, and began a Ph.D. in Political Science at University College London before leaving to pursue a career in writing.
After working in nonprofit journalism and as a bookseller, she completed her MFA in Creative Nonfiction at Saint Mary’s College of California in 2020. Katie is a freelance writer with a diverse portfolio that includes social media content, articles and blog posts, UX writing, and grant writing. She is currently working on a memoir about coming of age with Crohn’s disease and a novel about gentrification and climate change in Oakland.
